"Oh, if only the world is so perfect"

If only the world is so perfect

ok, i am gonna respond to ur blog about that movie, although i did not see the movie. i think the stereotypicality of the movie kinda bugs me. like u said, if this is a perfect world, then everyone will pretty much be pretty and in love with each other instead of trying to fight and kill others for territories. if this is a perfect world, then probably we need to stop producing more children all together. hahaha! sometimes it's tiring to see how movies portray lesbians to b the most intellectual of all female species. it's like they're smart becus they don't love men. being intellectual should b among all women. any women, in love with men or not can be intellectual if only they would care about things outside of their usual world. only if they would stop watching movies like "enchanted" or "27 dresses". if only we can all think like anna or alice (jane jones) in the movie closer. when do we ever get fucked sideways with a beautiful line like "hey waitress, what r u waiting for?".

I think the more appropriate questions i wanna ask is "why aren't straight movies intellectual?"
This movie wasn't really that intellectual in my taste but either way, I don't think there is anything wrong with being arty and intellectual, especially if the media [film] itself is already an art form, shouldn't u depict art through that?
although at the same time ppl have different ideas when it comes to art, which of course this will lead us to the inevitable question of "what is art?"
and as my old studio mate puts it, "ha, what is time?"

anyhow, i would like to see straight films that are at least a weee bit smarter than i don't know, sex and the city the movie? or "Ocean Horn Seven Number" yes, i'm calling it that now, i don't have any problem with 國片 being a hit right now, if anything i wish taiwanese art/ film can be more recognized and encouraged, this country needs some culture, it's the mediocrity of OHSN i personally can't stand. U know me, art-less-ness always gives me a hard time.
I understand that not all films have to be arthouse film, closer wasn't all that arty, but at least it was smart, it was saying something. I hate it when a filmmaker has no msg whatsoever, like OHSN.

By the way, i was reading this book by 朱天文 just now, and i saw this line, "等待之中他說我們盼望什麼事情竟盼望到使自己與失望為伍?", i thought it's a great reply to the "what are u waiting for?" line, but dear god, i really hope it doesn't come down to that.
Well, at least this is smarter than that idiotic "女人都太笨 不懂回憶最傷人"

There are smart and intellectual arty heterosexual films that exist in the world (that was a mouthful). Although I do not know any since I don’t watch intellectual arty heterosexual or homosexual films. I watch blockbusters. I watch whatever can keep my mind off of important stuff like the military conflict at the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan, or the military insurgencies in Bolivia, or Russia regrouping its military for their long stay in Abkhazia and South Ossetia, or the fall of the government and the prime minister of Britain, or Canada having its third parliament election in less than a year etc… Anything, anything includes books, movies, jokes, people who tell jokes, people who are jokes, people who become jokes, people who represent jokes, and people who are simply too dumb to understand a joke is ok as long as it can get my mind off of things.

So right now, I am sitting in my seat in the office falling asleep, listening to the conversations going on around me, feeling like closing my eyes would be a great idea, waiting for what? Like what your studio mate (are you Australian or British now?) said, what is time? Time is something we can’t control. But time is something we invented out of nature so we can say sentences like “we are keeping track of time” when we really can’t do that. Time is our way to quantify things that we have absolutely no control over, like weight, or distance. Measurement does not represent control over. You can’t harbor measurement, you can’t put measure into an incubator and make it grow. What are we really waiting for? We’re waiting for that moment of death to make us realize that this is what life is all about. Death. Death is a point of time or a point in your life. You would think it’s the end, but it’s just a stage. What you do before death and what you do after death are the most important things. Or are they? Probably not. Who cares what you did if you’re already dead. You wouldn’t care either. So as we breath in and breath out trying to keep our hearts pumping blood for circulation, what are we waiting for? Or are we just sitting there waiting for some stranger to say hello to you?
