Palm Reading

Rebirth/ Cheer Chen

Kites soared Leaves fall
A fist's world is infinite

Strings tangled Trees grew
The palms kept the wind
But couldn't hold on to one piece of sand

In my left hand is a cat My right hand holds the power to comfort
You had me put my hands together softly Summoning the past
Close my eyes
Rolling up the ocean wave
Racing towards the paper moon
Running after a wolf in the rain

Butterflies soared Tides fall
Open your hands
Don't be afraid of
Incomplete

Tides are the rising of Earth's ocean surface caused by the tidal forces of the Moon and the Sun acting on the oceans
Says Wikipedia.

I don't wanna be one of those fat guys with oily faces, drooling over her, but I am working really hard on studying her lyrics and trying to figure out what they mean.
I hate to sound like a groupie [but I am] but my god, every time she has a new album out, I get inspirations for projects. It's like staring at a piece of drawing and get a concept out of it. I should send her some money.

This piece of lyric is by far the hardest song to figure out, so far I can only explain about half of the meaning. And it's only my personal take on things.

I think "我的左手是貓 右手是撫慰的力量/ In my left hand is a cat My right hand holds the power to comfort" is a reference to this picture:

"閉上眼 就地捲起海浪/ Close my eyes Rolling up the ocean wave" Reminds me of one scene from the music video "SELF" where she stands in front of the ocean. But honestly that shot was kinda cool, yet kinda cheesy at the same time, and I'm not sure it means anything.

And I wasn't sure what a wolf is doing here, the only connection I can think of is how the wolves always know where the moon is, they are always howling towards the moon.
I don't know why it has to be raining though, and I'm not sure why the moon is made out of paper. Well, the Paper Moon thing is really cool though. If people have the DVD for 花的姿態 concert, you'll see a beautiful picture of the moon.

The rest is pretty self-explanatory. Except for the butterflies. I don't know why there should be butterflies. But there is definitely a connection between all the songs, why there is a mention of the tides in the beginning, and why the song is called Rebirth in English, and how the Sun and the Fish is having a complex love through distance.

In any case, I don't expect anyone to be interested in what I just wrote.
This is just a reminder on what I discovered, in case one day I start to do creative work again, I might wanna come back and read this.

By the way, Jackie, " π ε ρ' ι π ε τ ε ι α" means "Adventure" in Greek.
